Shawn Dascal

Chef Shawn Dascal's obsession with food started at a very young age. His earliest memories are of cooking Cuban meals with his Grandma Mima, watching Julia Child, Jacques Torres, Martin Yan and Emeril on repeat, and he prepared his first solo dish at the age of four (his parents have the video footage to prove it).
Dascal graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in 2007 and has since worked his way through various culinary disciplines. Over the course of his career, he’s taken detours as the O.G. chef of Epic Meal Time, travelled across Europe and Southeast Asia to hone his culinary craft, before returning to Montreal as the chef and creator of barbecue sensation Moonshine BBQ, for which he helped create and curate all of the menus and food systems as chef-owner before launching Kale//Bacon.
Most recently, Shawn birthed his covid baby, Baba Thai in September of 2020. Baba Thai is a celebration of this ancient cuisine born of a deep appreciation for its heritage, and an homage to the tradition of regional, Thai cooking. Driven by his obsession and passion for creating unforgettable meals, Shawn Dascal is your food ambassador, bringing the unique palate of Thailand to Montreal
