1. Post-Process in Plastic Welding & Covering (Finishing Techniques)

Post-processing is critical to ensure structural strength and functional requirements (leak-proofing, durability).

Deburring & Trimming: Removing excess flash or material beads from welded seams to achieve a smooth, flush finish.
Cooling Time Optimization: Managing the cooling process to prevent warping or stress in the weld.
Smoothing/Buffing: Using abrasives, hot air tools, or specialized cutters to refine the weld area for aesthetic,, consumer-facing products.
Testing and Inspection: Conducting non-destructive testing (NDT), such as spark testing or pressure testing, to verify leak-proof integrity.
Surface Coating: Applying specialized coatings for chemical resistance, UV protection, or aesthetic improvements (e.g., painting or coating for surface refinement).
Defect Rectification: Re-welding or finishing areas that did not pass quality inspection.

2. Job Description: Plastic Welding & Covering Engineer

Job Summary:

Responsible for developing, implementing, and supervising thermoplastic welding processes (e.g., butt, extrusion, hot air, ultrasonic) and applying protective coatings or coverings to plastic components. The goal is to ensure high-quality, durable, and watertight/airtight joints and surfaces.

Key Responsibilities:

Process Development: Design, develop, and optimize welding parameters (temperature, pressure, speed) for various plastics.
Equipment Operation: Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment (e.g., Munsch extruders, hot air tools, automated welding machines).
Quality Control: Inspect welds for defects, manage destructive/non-destructive testing, and ensure adherence to standards.
Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Quality Inspection Reports.
Material Selection: Choose appropriate filler materials and covering materials based on chemical resistance and structural needs.
Troubleshooting: Analyze welding defects and implement corrective actions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Plastics Engineering, Material Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: 3+ years in plastic welding, fabrication, or thermoplastics manufacturing.
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with HDPE, PVC, TPO, PP materials and their welding characteristics.
Certification: CSWIP or equivalent plastic welding inspection certifications preferred.
Skills: Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
