Job Description

As a Senior Legal Counsel at SEEK, you'll be part of a fast-paced and supportive environment where you can make a real difference. You'll work on complex challenges that have a direct impact on people's lives, helping us evolve our business and reach new heights.

The role will include:

• Providing legal advice and strategic business guidance on a diverse range of matters across SEEK's APAC businesses (covering Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines).
• Providing local Thailand market legal, privacy and regulatory advice and guidance to support local market matters and projects.
• Working autonomously and owning key business stakeholder relationships across the SEEK Group.
• Demonstrating sound judgment in identifying and mitigating legal risks and ensuring SEEK's businesses are proactively informed and compliant with relevant legislation.
• Assisting to develop legal resources and tools and collaborating with other members ofthe legal team to develop and deliver key legal function outcomes.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Provide legal advice to stakeholders across SEEK's core marketplace and adjacent businesses in the APAC region, covering a range of topics including general corporate law, contracting and e-commerce, consumer protection, privacy and AI and other laws that impact SEEK's operations in the local market.
• Contract negotiation and review: Review and negotiate contracts with partners, suppliers, and customers.
• Regulatory monitoring: Stay up-to-date with regulatory changes in the local market that may impact SEEK's businesses, providing timely advice and guidance to other legal team members and stakeholders on compliance requirements.
• Collaboration with members of SEEK's APAC legal team: Work closely with SEEK's regional teams, including the APAC legal team, to ensure consistency and alignment in legal advice and compliance processes where applicable.
• Privacy compliance: Responsible for privacy compliance in the local market with the support of the SEEK Group Data Privacy Officer, including monitoring and ensuring compliance with local data protection and privacy related laws and regulations.
• Local market support: Act as a local contact and support for SEEK's business services teams, including tax, risk, governance and compliance. Work with the Head of Country Finance to provide support, language skills and liaison with local regulators as required.
• Managing and supervising external legal providers.

The Team

• You will be an integral part of the SEEK legal team, which comprises the General Counsel, Heads of Legal, Senior Legal Counsel, Legal Counsel and Legal Assistants.
• The legal team is an APAC team and part of SEEK's broader Finance & Business Services function.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

• Current practicing certificate to legally practice law in Thailand, or ability to secure one.
• Significant experience at a top tier / boutique law firm or equivalent in-house experience, with exposure to and experience in a range of corporate/commercial matters.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills and an ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment where priorities can shift rapidly.
• The ability to work autonomously as well as part of a broader team and to manage a variety of stakeholders.
• A 'common-sense' approach when handling legal matters that balances technical legal requirements with commercial considerations.
• Excellent attention to detail and outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• A curious mindset, a passion for continuous learning and professional development (particularly in emerging areas of law and technology) and an enthusiasm for adapting legal solutions to evolving business needs.
• Experience with IT/SaaS contracts, privacy legislation and/or in an online technology business would be advantageous.
