Safety Manager

Position:
Safety Manager - Manufacturing

Job Summary:

As a Safety Manager in the manufacturing industry, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs to ensure the well-being of all employees and visitors within the manufacturing facility.

Your primary objective will be to create and maintain a safe work environment, identify, and mitigate potential hazards, and ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and industry standards.

You will work closely with production teams, engineers, and management to foster a safety-first culture and promote continuous improvement in safety practices and protocols.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and programs specific to the manufacturing environment, adhering to local, state, and federal regulations.
Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments of manufacturing processes, equipment, and facilities, identifying potential hazards and recommending corrective actions.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to integrate safety practices into the design, operation, and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
Provide guidance and support to supervisors and employees on safetyrelated matters, ensuring understanding and compliance with safety protocols.
Organize and conduct safety training programs for manufacturing employees, contractors, and visitors to raise awareness and promote safe work practices.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs, collecting and analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and nearmisses to determine root causes and implement corrective measures to prevent future occurrences.
Maintain accurate records of safetyrelated incidents, training, inspections, and compliance reports.
Stay current with industry best practices and emerging safety technologies, incorporating relevant changes into the organization's safety procedures.
Collaborate with relevant regulatory agencies, insurers, and external safety consultants to maintain compliance and address safetyrelated matters.
Lead safety committees or teams, fostering employee engagement in safety initiatives and encouraging the reporting of safety concerns.
Develop and implement emergency response plans, coordinating drills and ensuring preparedness for potential emergencies.
Monitor safety equipment and personal protective gear, ensuring their availability, proper usage, and regular maintenance.
Conduct safety audits and reviews to assess the effectiveness of safety measures and identify opportunities for improvement.
Prepare and present regular safety reports and updates to senior management.

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in safety management within a manufacturing environment.
Indepth knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices applicable to manufacturing operations.
Professional certifications in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., CSP, ASP, CHST) are preferred.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes, equipment, and related hazards.
Strong analytical and problemsolving skills, with the ability to assess risks and implement effective control measures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate safety information clearly to diverse audiences.
Leadership qualities and the ability to collaborate with crossfunctional teams and influence positive safety behaviors.
Detailoriented and capable of managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in using safetyrelated software and tools for data analysis and reporting.
Demonstrated commitment to promoting a safetyfirst culture within the manufacturing facility
