Working environment

Baan Dek Foundation (BDF) is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious organization based in Bangkok & Chiang Mai. BDF supports access to essential services for more than 1,500 vulnerable children and their families living in construction sites and slums. Through specifically tailored educational programs and flexible individual support, Baan Dek Foundation protects endangered children, enables families to become self-sustainable and provides opportunities for a better future.

มูลนิธิเครือข่ายพัฒนาบ้านเด็ก หรือ มูลนิธิบ้านเด็ก (Baan Dek Foundation) เป็นองค์กรไม่แสวงหาผลกำไร มีวัตถุประสงค์หลักในการให้ความช่วยเหลือและอนุเคราะห์เด็กและครอบครัวที่อยู่ในสภาวะเปราะบางที่อาศัยอยู่ในชุมชนของแรงงานก่อสร้างและชุมชนแออัดให้มีโอกาสพัฒนาอย่างสมบูรณ์ทั้งทางร่างกายและจิตใจ รวมทั้ง ให้สามารถเข้าถึงสิทธิและบริการขั้นพื้นฐาน ด้านสุขภาพ การศึกษาและความปลอดภัย

มูลนิธิเครือข่ายพัฒนาบ้านเด็กได้มีการดำเนินงาน "โครงการเสริมศักยภาพความรอบรู้ด้านสุขภาพ" มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อส่งเสริมความรู้และทักษะอันเป็นประโยชน์ต่อการเข้าถึงบริการด้านสุขภาพและการดูแลสุขภาพร่างกายทั้งตนเองและครอบครัวให้สมบูรณ์แข็งแรง

Responsibilities of the Advertised Internship 

1. Health Literacy Empowerment Program (HLEP) 

  โครงการส่งเสริมศักยภาพความรอบรู้ด้านสุขภาพ

• Support in facilitating the training for health focal points (peer) and beneficiaries in communities.
  
  สนับสนุนในการอำนวยความสะดวกในรการฝึกอบรมสำหรับอาสาสมัครด้านสุขภาพและกลุ่มเป้าหมายในชุมชน

• Provide field support and support with activities (accompany HLEP staff eg. Bring kid to access health service at hospital)
  
  ให้การสนับสนุนภาคสนามและสนับสนุนกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ (ร่วมกับเจ้าหน้าที่ประจำโครงการ เช่น พาเด็กไปรับบริการที่โรงพยาบาล)

• Support program development and implementation to answer beneficiary needs by researching content, suggesting activities, contact networks etc.
  
  สนับสนุนการพัฒนาและดำเนินโครงการเพื่อตอบสนองความต้องการของกลุ่มเป้าหมาย ด้วยการค้นคว้าข้อมูล ให้คำแนะนำกิจกรรมและติดต่อกับเครือข่ายคณะทำงาน

• Attend meetings/related training to improve the program
  
  เข้าร่วมการประชุมหรืออบรมที่เกี่ยวข้องกับโครงการ

• Support other tasks as planned with the supervisor.

Your Profile

Experience/Skills Preferred:

• Faire English skills, fluency in Thai
  
  ทักษะภาษาอังกฤษในระดับพอใช้ และภาษาไทยในระดับสื่อสารได้อย่างคล่องแคล่ว

• Experience working with children and community or Experience with non-profit organizations
  
  มีประสบการณ์ทำงานร่วมกับเด็กและชุมชน หรือประสบการณ์ทำงานกับองค์กรไม่แสวงหาผลกำไร

• Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint/experience using professional emailing/calendar system/Canva
  
  สามารถใช้โปรแกรมต่าง ๆ ในการทำงานได้ เช่น อีเมล งานเอกสาร งานออกแบบเพื่อนำเสนอ 

• Understanding of child protection policy/safeguarding

Soft Skills Necessary:

• Dynamic, creative, and demonstrates proven skills to work and engage with children and community.

• Interested on Health issue and Migrant labors's Health system in Thailand

About Baan Dek Foundation

Baan Dek Foundation is a dynamic non-profit dedicated to empowering marginalized children and families living in urban poverty, particularly in construction camps across Thailand. 

The Thai construction sector employs approximately 700,000 migrants out of which 40% are women. BDF and UNICEF's evidence-based study states around 60,000 children live with parents in construction site camps with slum-like conditions. These children and their parents face critical challenges in accessing essential services such as education, healthcare and child protection.

To address this challenge, BDF supports children and their parent's immediate needs (access to healthcare, education, and child protection services), empowers their communities through a peer-to-peer approach (training for youth, adults, and women) and creates systemic change in the Thai construction sector through the Building Social Impact Initiative.

Baan Dek also powers a spin-off social enterprise: Dao Ethical Gifts, which empowers vulnerable women in Thailand.
